Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) is a Corporation of the Government of South Australia, with the Board reporting to the Minister for Tourism.

Our Board

Andrew Daniels

Chair

Andrew Daniels is a professional company director and consultant with extensive experience across private and public sector organisations, including in major capital developments, event and venue management, and the insurance, finance and funds management sectors. He has held senior leadership roles across tourism, major events and motorsport at state and national levels.

Appointed Chair of the Adelaide Venue Management Board in October 2022, Andrew also serves as Chair of ICAM Funds Management, TPorts Group, the South Australian Motor Sport Board, Your Say Hospitality Group Pty Ltd, Novita Disability Services Ltd and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Denise von Wald

Deputy Chair

Denise von Wald is a company director and Certified Practising Marketer with extensive senior executive and marketing experience across the visitor economy. Her executive career spans senior leadership roles in domestic and international markets promoting South Australia as a leading visitor and education destination.

A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2018, Denise has more than 20 years’ experience as a non-executive director and has served on a broad range of tourism, events and economic development boards. She is currently Chair of the McLaren Vale Grape Wine and Tourism Association and a Director of the Adelaide Economic Development Agency and Festival City Adelaide.

Joanne Denley

Board Member

Joanne Denley is a professional business advisor and independent board director with extensive experience across public and private sector organisations, including more than 40 years in risk management, human resources and corporate leadership.

A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2015, Joanne has led major transformation initiatives across the manufacturing, retail, financial services and education sectors, both nationally and internationally. She was the first woman appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bridgestone Australia Group of companies, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and holds an MBA in Global Entrepreneurial Management.

Jim Kouts

Board Member

Jim Kouts is a professional director and corporate advisor with extensive senior executive experience across public and private sector organisations. His background spans leadership roles across the energy, aviation, financial services, food and agriculture, business events and cultural sectors.

Jim brings strong commercial judgement and strategic insight to board and executive roles, providing trusted advice to support effective governance, organisational positioning and long-term decision making. A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2015, he also serves as Deputy Chair of Adelaide Economic Development Agency and as a board member of Business Events Adelaide.

Penny Lion

Board Member

Penny Lion is an experienced non-executive director with extensive governance experience across the venues, sport and business events sectors. Her executive background includes senior leadership roles in business events, tourism and corporate travel, with strong capability in strategy, marketing, stakeholder engagement and government relations.

A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2023, Penny also serves on the boards of Racing SA and the Australian Business Events Association. She brings a commercially disciplined approach shaped by leadership roles with Tourism Australia and Flight Centre Ltd, alongside experience in strategic advisory work and family business operations. Penny is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Penny is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Gretchen Richards

Board Member

Gretchen Richards is a non-executive director and senior marketing executive with more than 20 years’ leadership experience across complex, regulated and global organisations. She brings deep expertise in brand strategy, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning across the energy, defence, financial services and professional services sectors.

Appointed to the Adelaide Venue Management Board in 2023, Gretchen has held board and committee roles across the arts, community services and not-for-profit sectors. Her executive career includes senior leadership roles in large national and multinational organisations. Gretchen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Marketing from Washington State University, USA.

Jodi Glass

Board Member

Jodi Glass is an experienced CEO, Chair and non-executive director with a 30-year career in arts leadership and governance. Her background spans senior executive roles within leading cultural and performing arts organisations, with strong capability in governance, stakeholder engagement and purpose led organisational development.

A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2023, Jodi is also Chair of Chamber Music Adelaide and a non-executive director of Brink Productions and the Carrick Hill Trust. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ian Horne

Board Member

Ian Horne is a senior industry leader with more than three decades’ experience across the hotel, hospitality and tourism sectors at state and national levels. He served as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Hotels Association (SA) on two occasions, for a combined total of 31 years.

A member of the Adelaide Venue Management Board since 2023, Ian has held a range of senior governance roles across tourism and skills development. He currently serves as Deputy Chair of Tourism Australia, Chair of Business Events Adelaide, and is a board director of the South Australian Tourism Commission and South Australian Skills Commission. Ian holds an MBA from the University of Adelaide and has completed executive education at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Our Executive

Martin Radcliffe

Chief Executive Officer

Martin Radcliffe is Chief Executive Officer at Adelaide Venue Management.

Having enjoyed an extensive and successful career in the global events and hospitality industries, Martin joined AVM in 2022. Under Martin’s leadership, AVM has achieved record trading levels and continues to demonstrate meaningful and extensive contributions to South Australia and its communities.

Since arriving in Adelaide from England in 2004, Martin has also held senior leadership positions across the hospitality, events and destination marketing sectors, as well as running a successful business consultancy.

Martin is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is currently a Board Director of Business Events Adelaide.

Mia Carrall

Chief Financial Officer

Mia Carrall brings a wealth of cross-industry experience to AVM, with a dedicated focus in the events and hospitality sector since 2016, and with the organisation since 2022.

In her current role, Mia oversees financial strategy and governance across AVM’s portfolio, supporting sustainable growth and long-term organisational performance.

Mia is CPA qualified and a recent graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, reflecting a commitment to financial leadership and corporate governance at the highest level.

Sarah Goldfinch

General Manager, Adelaide Convention Centre

Sarah Goldfinch is an accomplished leader with more than 25 years’ experience across the global tourism, hospitality and events industries. She joined Adelaide Convention Centre as General Manager in 2024 following senior leadership roles with major international hotel brands and running her own consultancy providing strategic and operational guidance to tourism and hospitality clients.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Sarah is passionate about creating outstanding guest experiences and advancing South Australia as a world-class business events destination.

Kate Owen

General Manager, Adelaide Entertainment Centre & Coopers Stadium

Kate was appointed General Manager of Adelaide Entertainment Centre & Coopers Stadium in 2022. With more than 16 years’ experience across both venues, she brings a deep operational expertise and a strong understanding of the entertainment and live events industry.

Kate works closely with national and international promoters to bring major artists and events to Adelaide and leads AVM’s strategic partnerships with South Australia’s premier sporting teams - Adelaide United Football Club, Adelaide 36ers and Adelaide Thunderbirds. In 2024, she guided the return of live music to Adelaide’s iconic venue, The Drive, and currently serves on the Music SA Board.

Emily Browne

General Manager - People

Emily leads AVM's people, culture and safety strategy, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across human resources, workplace health and safety, and organisational leadership.

She has held senior roles across major venues and industrial sectors, with a focus on leadership development, employee engagement and delivering sustainable culture and organisational transformation. Emily is recognised for aligning people strategy to business outcomes, and for delivering sustainable culture and operational transformation that supports high-performing, inclusive workplaces.

Coralie Cheney

General Manager – Functions & Business Events

Coralie brings deep organisational knowledge of AVM’s operations and markets, underpinned by almost 20 years’ experience across the organisation.

As General Manager, Functions & Business Events, she has led significant business growth across AVM's local functions and business events portfolio, with a strong focus on client experience and commercial performance.

Beyond AVM, Coralie has held a range of voluntary board and civic roles, including in local government and the arts sector.
